Day - by Jacopochi

The day begins early - at 5:57 am. Start time is 6:00 am.
Working at home allows for this.
It is something those who used to go to an office now understand.
For 15 years, breakfast has not been leisurely.
It can't be when All the Meetings are scheduled between 6:30 and 1:00 pm.
These are the work hours for those in other time zones.
They don't care about your sleep.
They are unaware of your need for coffee.
They send Instant Messages the minute you log on.
Their day began hours ago.
Children come into your office.
They don't know what time it is.
They are not at school.
They don't care you are on the phone.
You wave to them.
The day does not care if it's an unfriendly wave.
Afternoon comes sometime after hunger sets in again.
The meetings end.
There are not meetings after 1:00.
Those in other time zones
used to go home around this time
and it's rude to schedule meeting at the end of the day.
Call it a habit.
Before they leave, they like sending controversial emails.
This is because they know you're still working.
And you must deal with it before you log off.
There are others who no longer have an end of work day.
Why don't they stop?
They don't know how.
There is no appointment.
There is not soccer to coach.
There is no happy hour.
They keep working.
They enjoy instant messaging you at 2:45 with a "Quick question" -
It is not.
They ate at their desk all day and posted a meme about snacking problems.
They might as well use all this time to get a few things done.
Their children are adults.
They have no children.
They have a pet.
The end of my work day comes,
but it is still day.
There is nothing to mark the end of it, but later it ends.
Then the day starts again.
All of it starts again and it goes on and on.

Thoughts on the rona - by Judgemental Bacon

I couldn't think about much to say about the coronavirus, but maybe that says something.  My mother appears to think this is some important, monumental change that is shaking the foundation on which my life is built.  But it isn't.  Maybe it is for her, or other people, but not for me.  Maybe I'm just a kid who doesn't understand what's happening, and why it's important.  That could be partly true.  I'm not a toddler, and can comprehend most things around me, but I haven't been around for that long in comparison to others.  Maybe I can't understand that this is a crazy change that should  shake the foundation on which my life is built.  But is that such a bad thing? I have a theory, that since as kids, we are shaken up so much, we can roll with things as they come up more than others who who have settled down into a solid routine, which is part of a never-changing life plan.  Personally, I have no idea what's going on ever.  Basic...

Happy Mother's Day - by Pressure Canner

On Mother's Day, the mother prepared some food to eat.  Her family protested as they licked their lips and said, "you shouldn't have gone to all the trouble."  She said "No trouble, I just pulled a couple of things from the freezer."  Then she looked at them, started eating some pie, and said "what will you be having for dinner?"
